Working with Communities

The Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner works directly with a wide range of community groups before and after emergencies. This work supports the statutory responsibilities of the Commissioner to independently review the activities of the emergency services and the state’s emergency management arrangements.

This work enables the Commissioner to meet directly with community members and facilitates opportunities to gather facts, information, and opinions from the community and a variety of stakeholder groups.

The Office also works across government, with the media, the emergency services and industry representatives to ensure community needs are adequately considered at all stages of emergency planning, response and recovery, and are integrated into the development of emergency management policy.
