The Minister for Police and Emergency Services signed the MOU on behalf of the emergency services on 14 October 2009.

The agreement states that Sky News will broadcast an emergency message immediately, repeatedly, and for as long as necessary, as requested by Victoria's emergency services.

Sky News will broadcast emergency messages to the audiences of Sky News, including through Sky News:

  • 24 hour TV channel
  • digital channel including crawlers and alerts (part of which is new media and interactive for subscribers)
  • website at www.skynews.com.au
  • SMS alert service to Sky News SMS subscribers.
