Memorandum of Understanding - Essential Services Commission and Emergency Services Commissioner
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Essential Services Commission and Emergency Services Commissioner provides for consultation between them, and the integration and coordination of their regulatory and other activities in accordance with sections 15 and 16 of the Essential Services Commission Act 2001.
The MOU seeks to ensure regulatory and decision-making processes in relation to regulated industries and emergency management is closely integrated and better informed.
It ensures that the Essential Services Commission has regard to emergency management legislation in its decision-making in relation to regulated industries.
The MOU came into effect on 19 December 2003.
