Improving Emergency Response at Melbourne Airport
An incident at Melbourne Airport in February 2005 which led to the evacuation and closure of the southern airport terminal, resulted in the Premier requesting the Emergency Services Commissioner review the response to the incident.
In short, the review found that Victoria’s emergency management arrangements are of a high standard, but that they could have been applied more effectively in this situation. A number of recommendations are being implemented to ensure a more effective response in future emergency situations.
