National Volunteer Week
This year’s National Volunteer Week runs from 11-17 May with the theme ‘Everyday people, extraordinary contribution.'
Volunteers come from all walks of life, and often their impact goes unnoticed. National Volunteer Week acknowledges the contribution and sacrifices our volunteers make.
The recent bushfire crisis has highlighted the important role volunteers play within our community, particularly those volunteering in the emergency services.
Currently around 86,000 Victorians volunteer with the emergency services, including the Country Fire Authority, Life Saving Victoria, Victoria State Emergency Service and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.
Professionalism is not whether you are paid or volunteer – it is how you do your job. Victoria’s volunteers are professional in every sense of the word.
