Living With Risk: Ferny Creek Fire Alert Siren Evaluation Report
The 'Ferny Creek Fire Alert Siren Evaluation Report' was initiated by the State Coroner's recommendations from the inquest into three deaths that resulted from the Ferny Creek fire on 21 January 1997, and the concerns expressed by Ferny Creek residents about the lack of early warning received.
The local community collaborated with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and local government to install a fire alert siren to support current bushfire survival programs.
A follow-up evaluation was undertaken in 2002. This can be viewed from the related publications menu on the right.
