Community Alerting for Bushfire - A Local Solution for a Local Need The Ferny Creek Fire Alert Siren is an end product of a collaborative community, local government and emergency service working group process to establish an alerting system which would enhance the bushfire preparedness, planning and survival activities of a specific community in Ferny Creek. The project was initially set up as a response to a community request for ‘early warning’ as a result of the bushfires in Ferny Creek in the Dandenong Ranges in 1997.

Emergency broadcasters list Official emergency warnings will now be broadcast on ABC Local Radio, UGFM – Radio Murrindindi, Stereo 974, Plenty Valley FM, Alpine Radio, Radio Mansfield and selected commercial radio stations across Victoria and SkyNews television. Exercise Management Field Kit The Emergency Management Exercise Group has six Exercise Management Field Kits that are aimed at multi-agency training and exercise strategies and programs. Five of the field kits are located with the Victoria Police Regional Emergency Management Inspectors around Victoria, with the sixth kit held by the Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner.

Marine Emergency Framework Review Final Report The government requested that the Emergency Services Commissioner undertake the Marine Emergency Framework Review (the Review) with the support of the Department of Infrastructure (now the Department of Transport), with a view to recommending to government, improved arrangements if warranted. Review of the April 2008 Windstorm In April 2008 a severe windstorm impacted upon Victoria, including metropolitan Melbourne.
