National phone warning system gets upgrade thanks to Commonwealth and Victorian Governments
- Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Robert McClelland MP, and Acting Victorian Premier Peter Ryan today announced that the Victorian Government has signed a contract with Telstra Corporation to enhance the national Emergency Alert telephone warning system with world-first technology.
- The national presentation of the 2011 Australian Safer Communities Awards was held at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on Thursday 8 December. Hosted by the Attorney-General, the Australian Safer Communities Awards recognise innovative practices and achievements of organisations and individuals that help to build communities safer, stronger, more resilient and better prepared to manage emergency situations.
